About the Author
As a writer, editor, and East of the River columnist, I'm thrilled to introduce my first title, The Definitive Black Trivia Book. It's a bold claim, but I'm confident in its assertion because this book goes far beyond the borders of the United States. With 25 individually themed chapters, each containing 25 questions, my publication covers Black history from the Caribbean and the African continent to the continental U.S., Hawaii, and Europe. Themes include the military, religion, sport, law, education, and medicine, offering a truly global perspective.
I designed this quiz format to be more than just answering questions; it's about learning as you play. Even though each question has one correct answer, all four multiple-choice options are related to the topic, so you'll always discover something new about a Black icon. For instance, do you know who was a whiz at mathematics and built America's first clock? The answer is Benjamin Banneker, but you'll also learn about other famous Black inventors like George Washington Carver, Frederick McKinley Jones, and Granville Woods. Answers are provided at the back of the book, so you can check your guesses and continue your journey of discovery.
